This is the softest pad in CCW's 40 cm Glomesh range, sold individually. It suits a 40 cm (16 in) rotary floor machine running a pad driver.
What it is used for
- Dry polishing a finished hard floor to a higher shine.
- Polishing with a light water mist to bring up a high-gloss finish.
- Soft polishing on coated timber floors — Glomesh's Australian distributors list this use.
- Encapsulation work, where a soft pad is needed under a rotary machine.
- Cushioning behind a more aggressive pad — CCW's 3M Maroon SPP denibbing pad page recommends a white pad between the driver and the maroon pad to soften the cut.

Machine speed: Edco lists the white super polish pad for machines running 350–800 rpm. The same regular-speed range is listed at 175–350 rpm for the brown stripping pad. Glomesh's own data could not be checked, so if you are running a high-speed burnisher, confirm with CCW before using this pad on it.
Reading floor pad colours
Floor pad colour is an industry convention for aggressiveness. As a general rule, the lighter the pad the gentler it is: white polishes, red buffs and cleans lightly, blue and green scrub, brown and black strip. Using a pad more aggressive than the finish requires removes the finish, and the customer sees that as damage rather than as cleaning.
Always start with the least aggressive pad that will do the job, and test in an inconspicuous area.
Using a water mist
A light mist of water helps the pad develop a higher shine on a dry-polished finish. Mist, do not wet — excess water on a buffing pad turns polishing into a slurry and dulls the result.
Operating advice
- Sweep or dust-mop the floor first. Grit trapped under a polishing pad scratches the finish.
- Centre the pad on the driver and check it sits flat before starting the machine.
- Keep the machine moving. A stationary pad heats and marks the finish.
- Turn the pad over when the working face loads up with finish or soil, and rinse loaded pads before they dry hard.
- Replace the pad when the fibre has flattened and it no longer lifts the shine.
Frequently asked questions
Will it fit my machine?
It fits a 40 cm (16 in) pad driver. A 43 cm (17 in) machine is also common in the trade, and a 40 cm pad will be undersized on it. Measure the driver, not the machine badge.
Can I use it to clean a floor?
Only lightly. White is a polishing pad. For scrubbing or removing finish you need a more aggressive pad — see the brown dry strip pad for stripping.
White or tan?
Both polish. White is the softest of CCW's range and suits dry polishing to a higher shine and wet-look misting. The tan pad is listed by CCW for polishing buffable finishes.
