This is an aftermarket alternative, not a genuine Dri-Eaz part. We say so plainly because on an air scrubber the filter is the machine's whole function, and you should know what you are fitting.
Important — Check the Size Against Your Machine
The genuine Dri-Eaz filters this is offered against are not the same size as each other:
- F270, first stage — 16 x 16 x 1 inch, MERV 4, 10% efficiency
- F271, second stage — 15.75 x 15.75 x 0.75 inch, MERV 8, 30% efficiency
The manufacturer does not publish dimensions or a MERV rating for this aftermarket filter, and a single filter genuinely replacing both of those is a strong claim we cannot verify. Before ordering, measure the filter you are taking out and contact us with the dimensions.
Why Pre-Filters Matter More Than People Think
The HEPA element is the expensive part of an air scrubber and it is not washable. The pre-filter exists to catch the bulk loading — dust, fibre, gyprock — before it reaches the HEPA.
Running a scrubber with a loaded or missing pre-filter does not just reduce airflow. It shortens the life of the filter behind it, which is where the real money is.
On a restoration job, change pre-filters on condition rather than on a schedule. A demolition day can load one in hours.
