Hygiena PRO-Clean Rapid Protein Residue Test (100pk)

Regular price $633.75

Overview

Hygiena PRO-Clean is a rapid protein residue test. Swab the surface, release the reagent, and read the colour — no meter and no interpretation required.

Supplied as a 100-pack. A 2,000-pack is also available.

How to read it

If protein residue is present, the reagent turns purple. The more contamination there is, the faster the colour develops and the darker it becomes.

Results in 10 minutes.

Why protein is the residue worth testing for

Protein is harder to remove from a surface than sugars or general soil. That makes it a demanding indicator: if the protein is gone, the easier residues almost certainly are too.

It is also the residue that matters most in the environments where cleaning verification is taken seriously — food handling, changeover between products, and any situation where body fluids or organic matter have been involved.

For sugar residue, use SpotCheck Plus, which detects glucose and lactose.

Where a colour test fits

  • Colour tests (PRO-Clean, SpotCheck Plus) — specific to a residue type, pass or fail by eye, no instrument, minimal training. Good for frontline checks by the cleaning team.
  • ATP tests (UltraSnap, SuperSnap) — general organic residue, numeric result you can trend, requires a luminometer. Better where you need records over time.

The two are complementary, not alternatives. Many programmes use ATP for the audit trail and colour tests for daily checks.

Using it well

Swab a defined area, consistently. A colour test is still a sampling test, and inconsistent sampling produces results nobody can act on.

Read at 10 minutes, not when you get back to it. The colour develops with time, so a late read overstates the residue.

Sample before sanitising where your procedure allows.

Agree what acceptable looks like and keep a reference, so the standard does not drift between shifts and supervisors.

Integration with EnSURE Touch

Where the site runs an EnSURE Touch, results can be recorded alongside ATP data so the monitoring programme sits in one place.

Storage and shelf life

ATP and enzyme test devices are reagent products with a real shelf life, and that shelf life depends on how they are stored. Refrigerated storage is what preserves it.

Shipping: the price of this item includes thermal packaging and an ice pack, so the devices arrive in condition. Put them into refrigerated storage when they land rather than leaving the carton on a bench.

Frequently asked questions

Does it need a meter?

No. The result is a colour change.

How long does it take?

10 minutes.

What colour means a fail?

Purple indicates protein residue. Darker and faster means more residue.

Will it detect sugars?

No — use SpotCheck Plus.

Does it identify allergens?

No. It detects protein generally. It cannot tell you which protein.

How many tests in a pack?

100. A 2,000-pack is also available.
