The Wagner Calibration Verification Block, L-Series (Wagner part 880-60130-001) is used to verify the calibration of Wagner L-Series hand-held industrial meters, including the L622, L620, L601-3 and the L722 Lumber Stack Probe, as well as Wagner's legacy hand-held meters MMC205, MMC210, MMC220 and MMI1100, except for the L609.
Wagner Meters' hand-held units are factory-calibrated. With proper care, the meters stay in calibration. If the meter has been dropped or, for any reason, you suspect it is out of calibration, a Calibration Verification Block (CVB) allows you to determine whether or not the meter is still calibrated.
What It Works With
- Current Wagner meters (per Wagner): L601-3 and the L722 Lumber Stack Probe (40 in and 26 in).
- Legacy Wagner meters (per Wagner): L622, L620, MMC205, MMC210, MMC220 and MMI1100.
- Not the L609 (per CCW's listing).
Certificate of Calibration
The Certificate of Calibration says that the calibration block meets the standards or specifications set by the US National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). This certificate provides proof that the CVB is NIST-traceable and can therefore be used to determine whether a moisture meter is properly calibrated.
Knowing your meter is properly calibrated, and having a certificate to prove it, is valuable for companies such as flooring manufacturers, flooring installers or mills that could face warranty claims arising from inaccurate moisture readings. A certificate shows that the equipment was checked against a standard traceable to NIST, which helps you defend your readings.
For companies working under an ISO quality system, documented calibration checks are normally required, and the certificate provides the traceability record.
How to Check Your Meter
Wagner's instruction: if your meter displays the expected %MC value when placed properly on the block, it is calibrated correctly. If the reading deviates from the expected value, the meter may need recalibration.
Wagner's L622 manual gives the figures for that meter:

My L622 came with a block. Why buy this?
Wagner supplies the L622 with an uncertified block. This one comes with the NIST-traceable certificate, which is what quality systems and warranty disputes need.
What if my meter reads outside the range?
Repeat the test, making sure the meter sits flat and fully on the block. If it is still outside the range, contact us to arrange recalibration.
Can I use it on other brands of meter?
No. It is made for the Wagner meters listed above.
