The sleeve is the flexible element inside the jaw coupler that joins the engine shaft to the driven component. It takes the torsional shock and the small misalignment that exists in every real installation, so that the shafts and bearings do not have to.

Important — HydraMaster list several coupler sleeves

Check the coupler size stamped on the hub before you order. The sleeve number matches the coupler, not the machine.
Fitting and service advice
Inspect the sleeve whenever the coupler is exposed. A sleeve that has gone hard, cracked at the root of the legs, or shows powdered rubber in the coupler housing is finished, regardless of how it looks from the outside.
Check alignment while the coupler is apart. A sleeve that has worn on two legs and not the others is telling you the shafts are not in line, and a new sleeve will go the same way.
A knock at start-up or shutdown, or a vibration that was not there before, is the usual symptom of a worn sleeve. Do not wait for it to fail completely — when a sleeve lets go, the shock goes into the bearings.

How do I know if mine is a #6?
The coupler hubs are marked. If you cannot read the marking, measure the coupler and send us the figures — do not order on the assumption that a machine model implies a coupler size.
Will a #7 sleeve fit a #6 coupler?
No.
Does it come with the coupler hubs?
No. The hubs are separate part numbers.
How often should it be replaced?
On condition. Inspect whenever the coupler is accessible, and replace at the first sign of hardening or cracking.
