Complete trigger valve assembly for the Sapphire Scientific Clear-View Upholstery Pro (AW59). Sapphire part number 23-070, listed in the parts register as Valve Assy, PMF V4N With Trigger.
This is the PMF V4N valve with trigger. Also catalogued as Legend Brands 120070.
Rebuild or replace?
Sapphire's user instructions give two repair options for a trigger that leaks or will not release enough solution:
- Option A — rebuild. Stem replacement kit 48-064. Cheaper, and the first thing to try. Trigger lever off, stem retention nut off, new stem in.
- Option B — replace the assembly. This part. A longer job: four cover screws, depress the hose release ring and withdraw the solution outlet tube without kinking it, remove the outlet tube fitting from the valve body, then disconnect the inlet hose assembly.
Go to Option B when the valve body itself is damaged — a stripped thread, a cracked body, or a seat that a new stem will not seal against. If the fault is wear, the stem kit is the right answer.
Before you replace anything
Sapphire instruct you to confirm the glide is not plugged or damaged before concluding the trigger needs service. Also check the inline strainer and the orifice plate on the flow adjust assembly — both produce "not enough solution" and neither is a valve fault.

Sapphire's own user instructions for the Upholstery Pro are clear that this tool is designed to be serviced in the field with basic hand tools in a few minutes. That is worth taking them up on — an upholstery tool that has gone off is usually a five-minute job, not a new tool.
Fitting advice
Do not kink the solution outlet tube when you withdraw it — Sapphire call this out specifically, and a kinked tube is a second part to buy.
Note the orientation of the valve body and the routing of the inlet hose before you disturb them.
The flow adjustment valve assembly gets extremely hot in use. Let the tool cool before you work on it, and keep the valve wrap closed when it is back in service.

Should I rebuild instead?
If the body is sound, yes — kit 48-064 is cheaper and quicker. Replace the whole assembly when the body is damaged rather than worn.
Does it come with the trigger lever?
Sapphire list it as the trigger and valve body. Ask us to confirm what is in the box before ordering if the lever matters.
Is it the same as a PMF V4N valve?
It is the V4N valve with trigger as fitted to the AW59.
The tool is not delivering enough solution. Is the valve at fault?
Not necessarily, and it is the last thing to check rather than the first. A plugged glide, a blocked 50 mesh strainer or a partly blocked 0.057 in orifice all produce the same symptom, and all three are quicker to check.
