The backup ring is not optional
A backup ring sits behind the O-ring and stops it extruding into the clearance gap under pressure. Fitting the O-ring without it gives you a joint that seals on the bench and fails under working pressure — which is exactly when you do not want to find out.
Fit the backup ring on the side of the O-ring away from the pressure, so the O-ring is pushed onto it. A lightly lubricated O-ring seats without rolling or nicking; a dry one fitted over threads is easily cut.
Check the thread standard
BSP and NPT threads will start together and will not seal. If you are connecting equipment from different sources, tell us what you are joining.
Matching the coupling
Screw-type quick couplings only work with the matching half of the same coupling series. Before ordering, check the part you are replacing against this one — or send us a photo of the old coupling and the equipment it came off.
