Why an axle wears
An orbital machine is heavy and it is wheeled in and out of vehicles and over thresholds all day. The axle and its bearing surfaces take that load, and a worn axle shows up as a wheel that wobbles or sits out of line — which then drags on the machine and makes it harder to steer.
Identifying the right part
Fasteners and small components change between production runs, and the part on your machine may not match the current drawing. Measure what you are replacing, or photograph it against a ruler, and send that with your model and serial number. It takes a minute and it saves an order that does not fit.

Replacing the Axle
- Unplug the machine and remove the pad and driver so it is lighter and more stable.
- The machine is heavy. Support it securely before a wheel comes off, and get a second person to help.
- Note how the wheels, washers and retaining parts come off so they go back in the same order.
- Check the wheel hubs for wear while they are off. A worn hub on a new axle will still wobble.
- Fit the new axle, refit the wheels and retaining parts, and check each wheel spins freely and runs true.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is it the axle or the wheel?
Lift the wheel clear of the floor and spin it. A wheel that wobbles or leans suggests a bent or worn axle or a worn hub; a wheel that runs true but thumps suggests a flat spot on the wheel itself.
Should I replace both sides?
Check both. They carry similar loads, so if one axle is worn the other is often close behind.
