Product Overview
Continental ContiTech Neptune 3000 solution hose, 1/4 inch ID, in a 60 metre length, with male pipe ends and protector sleeves on both ends. It is rated at 3,000 psi working pressure and 121°C (250°F), with a blue non-marking cover.
Neptune was previously sold under the Goodyear brand. Goodyear's engineered products business became part of Continental ContiTech, and the hose is now marked Continental ContiTech.
Construction
- Tube: nitrile synthetic rubber.
- Reinforcement: one braided steel wire — strong, but still flexible enough to drag and coil.
- Cover: blue oil-resistant synthetic rubber, ARPM Class B (medium oil resistance), non-marking.
- Temperature range: −29°C to 121°C (−20°F to 250°F).
Important — Check Your Machine's Rating
Neptune 3000 is rated to 3,000 psi and 121°C. Most portables and truckmounts run well inside that, but some high-pressure and high-heat truckmounts can exceed it. Check the maximum pump pressure and outlet temperature of your machine before fitting any solution hose.
Solution Hose Is a Safety Component
This hose carries water at high pressure and high temperature past the operator’s legs and across a customer’s floor. When a solution hose fails it does not weep — it bursts, and it does so with hot water at pressure.
Inspect the full length regularly. Any place where the cover is abraded through to the reinforcement, any bulge, and any weep at a crimp means the hose is finished. Do not repair a high-pressure hose. Replace it.
What Shortens Hose Life
Dragging it around door frames and across driveways abrades the cover. Coiling it tightly while hot sets kinks into the reinforcement. Leaving it pressurised and in the sun ages it. None of those show as a fault until the day it lets go.
