We could not locate this part number in the Briggs & Stratton parts documentation we hold for the engines fitted to HydraMaster truckmounts (Mfg. No. 473177-0113-E1 on the Boxxer 427, and 356447-1239-G1 / Model Series 356400 on the Boxxer 318). That does not mean it does not fit them — it means we have not verified it, and we are not going to claim fitment we cannot stand behind.

Identifying your engine
Briggs & Stratton engines are identified by model, type and code, stamped or printed on a label on the engine itself. The same HydraMaster machine model has been built with more than one engine over the years, and parts changed at specific code dates within a single engine model.
If you are ordering for a machine you have not worked on before, read the engine label rather than assuming from the truckmount model. It takes a minute and it is the difference between the right part and a return.
Fitting advice
Inspect the shaft or bore the seal runs on before fitting. A scored or grooved surface will destroy a new seal quickly, and fitting a seal to a damaged surface is money spent twice.
Fit it the right way round — the lip faces the fluid it is retaining. It is an easy thing to get wrong on a bench and an expensive one to discover afterwards.
Lubricate the lip on assembly and drive the seal squarely. A seal that goes in cocked will weep no matter how good the shaft is.
