The Air-Care FG0072 is the 100 mm (4″) replacement brush for Cobra dryer duct cleaning, fitted with a Lint Buster Ball at the tip. It runs on the 5/16″ flexible dryer duct cable, not the 3/8″ cable used for air duct work.
Bristles are a consumable. A worn brush still turns and still sounds like it is working, but it stops lifting compacted lint off the duct wall, so most operators carry a spare.
What it is for
Clothes dryer exhaust ducts, commonly 100 mm in Australian domestic installations. The brush is driven through the duct on the dryer cable while vacuum is applied at one end, agitating packed lint so it is drawn out rather than pushed further along the run.
This is a fire risk task. Air-Care are explicit that cleaning the duct alone is not enough — lint inside the dryer's fan and heating area has to be removed as well.
Fitment
Air-Care specify FG0072 for the Cobra IV and for dryer duct cleaning generally. It appears in the Cobra-5 parts list as a 4″ dryer duct brush with Lint Buster Ball, and is the brush supplied with both Air-Care dryer duct cables — FG0058 (5/16″ core x 20 ft) and FG0060 (5/16″ core x 35 ft).
This brush mounts to the 5/16″ dryer cable, not the 3/8″ standard cable. The two cores are different diameters and are not interchangeable. If you are running the standard air duct cable, the brush you want is the 18″ Flex-E-Bristle (SACOB0011).
Cobra-7 compatibility is not confirmed. The Cobra-7 ships with the 3/8″ cable and Air-Care do not list FG0072 in the published Cobra VII parts schedule. We have asked Air-Care to confirm whether the dryer cable and this brush are offered for that machine. Until they answer, do not assume it fits — contact us first if the Cobra-7 is what you intend to run it on.
We do not currently stock the 5/16″ dryer cable itself — this brush is a replacement for operators who already have one. Contact us if you need the cable quoted.

Operating advice
- Low torque setting. Air-Care are specific that the 5/16″ dryer cable runs on LOW. Running it on HIGH is how dryer cables get twisted.
- Stop the brush before it enters or leaves the duct. The rule most often broken under time pressure.
- Speed around 50 to 60 for dryer duct work.
- Meeting resistance? Reverse and push again rather than forcing it. If it still will not reach, work from the other end of the duct.
- Power off before changing the brush. The remote can activate the drive if it is knocked.
- A brush is not a nest claw. For a bird nest or solid clog, the nest claw (FG0089) is the tool — but it is aggressive and can damage flexible ducting.
Wear and replacement
Judge the brush on bristle length and stiffness, not on how the machine sounds — bristles soften gradually and the drop-off is easy to miss. Airflow is the honest measure. Air-Care's guidance is that over 1000 fpm at the exhaust is a good result and under 1000 fpm is not; if post-clean readings drift down across several jobs and nothing else has changed, look at the brush.
Warranty
Air-Care classify the brush assembly as a consumable and provide no manufacturer warranty period on it, as stated in the Cobra equipment manuals.

You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.
These rights are not limited by the manufacturer's position on consumables. Normal bristle wear through use is not a fault; if a brush arrives damaged or fails early in a way that is not wear, contact us and we will handle it from this end.

Will this fit my Cobra-7?
Not confirmed. The Cobra-7 runs a 3/8″ cable and Air-Care do not list this brush in the Cobra VII parts schedule. We have asked them and will update this page when they answer.
What size duct does it suit?
Clothes dryer exhaust ducts at 100 mm. For air conditioning ductwork from 100 mm to 457 mm, you want the 18″ Flex-E-Bristle brush on the standard cable instead.
What is the Lint Buster Ball?
A ball fitted at the tip ahead of the bristles. It leads the brush through bends and helps break up packed lint at the head of the run rather than compacting it further.
Can I run it on the standard 3/8″ cable?
No. It is made for the 5/16″ dryer cable, and the cores are different sizes.
How long does a brush last?
It depends on how many runs it does and how abrasive the ducting is, so we will not quote a figure we cannot stand behind. Inspect the bristles rather than counting jobs.

Dryer ducts are one of those jobs where more aggression isn't necessarily better. The trick is keeping the brush moving through bends while breaking lint away rather than forcing the cable when it meets resistance — that's when technicians start damaging ducting or their equipment. We also remind customers to check which Cobra cable they're using before ordering, because the dryer-duct setup is its own system and a brush that looks right isn't necessarily the right connection.
