VacAway Red Vanish Wool 946ml

VacAway describes Red Vanish for Wool as an AMAZING crystallising "one-part" dye stain remover designed for WOOL carpeting that will make a novice carpet cleaner look like a pro.

It eliminates the hassle of a two-part stain remover, and you can be assured there will never be a sticky residue left to cause a re-soiling problem. It will remove stains on carpet caused by red food dye, coffee, wine, blood, urine, vomit and similar. It will also improve many furniture stains on carpeting.

Important: Wool Version vs Standard Red Vanish

This is the wool version. It is used without heat and sparingly. The standard VacAway Red Vanish 946 mL is for colourfast synthetic carpet and may be used with heat. Do not use the standard version on wool.

Application

1. Red Vanish for Wool should be used without heat when used on WOOL or any delicate carpet or upholstery.
2. Shake before using.
3. Apply sparingly undiluted to the stain.
4. Agitate slightly.

Dye stains should disappear or change colour within a few minutes. In the case of red dye stains, they should either disappear or turn to a yellowish colour. Remove any resulting colour change with any spotting agent safe for wool.

Tips From the Job

• Wool takes up dye readily and bleaches easily. Test in a hidden area and use the least product that works.
• Blot, do not scrub. Heavy agitation distorts wool pile.
• Do not follow with a strongly alkaline spotter on wool. Choose a spotter labelled wool-safe.

• Test all carpet for colour fastness before using any carpet cleaning product.
• Keep out of the reach of children.
• Eye and skin irritant. We HIGHLY recommend you read the SDS for this product before using.
• Avoid eye, skin or clothing contact. On contact with eye or skin, flush thoroughly with water. If irritation persists, consult a physician.
• Do not breathe vapour or mist (use adequate ventilation or supply breathing apparatus with organic filters if necessary).
• Never take internally.
• Do not re-use container. Dispose of this container according to government regulations.

Safety Data Sheet Summary

The SDS on file (The Cleaner Image, US format, revised 3 April 2024) lists sodium metabisulfite as an ingredient and gives the signal word Warning. Points to note:

• May be corrosive to eyes. Contact may cause irreversible eye damage. Rubber gloves and goggles must be worn.
• Causes skin and respiratory irritation. Use with adequate ventilation.
• The SDS warns that some people are very sensitive to sulphites, and exposure can trigger asthma-type reactions. Technicians or occupants with a known sulphite sensitivity should avoid exposure.
• pH 5 to 6. Not regulated for US transport (DOT).

Can I use heat to speed it up?

No. VacAway directs that it be used without heat on wool or any delicate carpet or upholstery.

The red stain has gone yellow. What now?

That is the expected result on many red dye stains. Remove the yellowish colour with a spotting agent that is safe for wool.

Can I use it on synthetic carpet too?

Yes, VacAway lists it for colourfast wool or synthetic carpet. On synthetics, the standard Red Vanish gives you the option of heat.

Do I need to rinse it?

VacAway describes it as free rinsing. Rinse or extract the area after treatment.
