VacAway Encap GREEN contains a blend of plant-based and other green surfactants coupled with a brittle-drying copolymer. VacAway describes it as very safe and environmentally friendly, with over 99.6% readily biodegradable ingredients at use dilution. Encap GREEN does not contain petroleum distillates, butyl, ammonium hydroxide, enzymes or phosphates. VacAway says side-by-side tests with competitive non-green products show its power both as a cleaner and as a deodoriser.
It is an encapsulating detergent and carpet prespray for professional carpet cleaners, for use on colourfast commercial and residential carpet and upholstery, as a pad or bonnet solution, an encapsulation prespray or a prespray before hot water extraction.

Directions
- Test for colourfastness before applying any cleaning product to carpet or upholstery.
- Mix product according to the dilution ratios above and on the label.
- Pre-vacuum or pile lift carpet to remove dry particulate soil.
- Apply with any standard method of applying pre-spray, such as a pump-up sprayer or a gravity-fed system, as used with a Cimex and some rotary machines. Depending on the application method and degree of soiling, apply at 4 to 10 square metres per litre (VacAway: 200 to 400 sq ft per gallon, about 4.9 to 9.8 m² per litre).
- For best results, agitate the solution into the carpet pile with a high-agitation machine such as an oscillating pad, rotary bonnet, Cimex or CRB.
Soil Removal Methods
- Encapsulation only method: remove encapsulated soil by vacuuming thoroughly when the carpet is dry, or have your client vacuum at the next scheduled vacuuming interval.
- Combination method: also called PadCapping or BonnetCapping. To remove the majority of the soil, clean as usual using a bonnet or oscillating pad machine. When the carpet has dried, it can then be vacuumed to remove any remaining encapsulated soil.
- Hot water extraction: apply Encap GREEN, agitate, then rinse with any extraction machine as normal. If all product and dirt are not completely extracted, the residue will dry brittle and be vacuumed away during the client's routine vacuuming.

Safety
The SDS on file (The Cleaner Image, US format, revised 2 April 2024) gives no hazard classification and states the product is not regulated for transport. It also states that the product can cause eye irritation, which could be severe with undiluted ingredients, and may irritate skin. Wear splash-proof goggles and gloves when mixing and applying. Store at room temperature. VacAway lists it as freeze-thaw stable.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use it on wool?
VacAway says it may be used on all colourfast carpet and upholstery but does not mention wool specifically. Test for colourfastness first and ask us if you are working on wool.
Do I need to rinse it?
Not for encapsulation or pad and bonnet cleaning; the residue dries brittle and is vacuumed away. As a prespray before extraction, rinse as normal.
What does anti-wicking agent use mean?
VacAway's bulletin lists a stronger mix (32 oz per gallon) for use as an anti-wicking agent. The bulletin gives no further directions for that use, so ask us before relying on it.
How is it different from Hot Knife X-treme?
Hot Knife X-treme is VacAway's stronger grease-cutting encapsulator for oily soiling and oil-loving fibres such as olefin and polyester. Encap GREEN is the plant-based option.
