How the test runs
Drill to the depth ASTM F2170 specifies for the slab, clear the hole, insert the liner, cap it, and leave it to equilibrate before the probe goes in.
The equilibration step is the one most often skipped, and skipping it is what produces a result that later turns out to be wrong. Drill, line, cap, wait — then read.
Important — check the diameter and the standard
These are the 19 mm liners for ASTM F2170, drilled with a 3/4 inch bit. Tramex also makes 16 mm liners for testing to BS 8201, BS 8203 and BS 5325. The two are not interchangeable, and the bit size differs. Confirm which standard your specification calls for before you drill.
