Pins are consumables, and a bent pin lies to you
A pin that is bent or blunt makes intermittent contact, and intermittent contact reads as a lower moisture content, not as an error. That is the dangerous direction for the error to run: it tells you a structure is dry when it is not. Carry spares and change them at the first sign of damage.
