About the CoilJet
The CoilJet is a self-contained, battery-powered coil cleaning system: a tank, a pump and a lance, built so a technician can wash an air conditioning coil in place without a power outlet or a water connection. Keeping one serviceable is a matter of small parts — a battery, a hose, a nozzle, a valve — and a machine sitting idle for want of one of them is the most expensive part in the kit.
Diagnose before you replace
A CoilJet that will not run has three likely causes in this order: a flat or sulphated battery, a blown fuse in the harness, or a broken connection where the harness passes through the housing.
Check the fuse before ordering a harness. If the fuse has blown more than once, something downstream is drawing current it should not be — replacing the harness will not fix that, and fitting a larger fuse is how a wiring fault becomes a fire.
SpeedClean's checks, in order
- Battery: remove it, disconnect the leads and measure it. A charged battery reads 11 to 14 V; under 11 V, recharge it.
- Fuse: remove the six screws on the bottom cover and find the yellow in-line fuse holder in the base. The CoilJet uses a 15 A fuse.
- Wiring: with the cover off, look for loose or damaged wiring. SpeedClean notes vibration and chemical spills as the usual causes.
- Charger: plugged into the wall, not the CoilJet, it should read 12 to 14 V.

Fitting advice
- Turn the power switch off and disconnect the battery before touching the harness.
- Photograph every connection and the routing before removing the old harness.
- Keep the harness clear of hoses and anywhere chemical can pool in the base.
- Reconnect the battery red to positive and black to negative, then test with water before chemical.
- Replace a fuse only with one of the same type and rating (SpeedClean manual).
Frequently asked questions
The fuse keeps blowing. Should I fit a bigger one?
No. Find the cause — a chafed wire, a chemical-damaged connection or a pump drawing too much current. SpeedClean's manual is explicit: replace only with a fuse of the same type and rating.
The motor buzzes but will not start. Is it the harness?
Probably not. SpeedClean lists pressure that needs relieving, a failing battery, or a pump diaphragm that has dried out after long storage (fill the unit and let it sit for 48 hours) before a factory fault.
Is this a job for an electrician?
It is a 12 V battery circuit, so a competent technician can fit it. The charger connects to mains power — never work on the machine while it is plugged in to charge.
