About SpeedClean Bibs

A bib wraps around an installed wall-mounted or cassette air conditioner and channels wash water and chemical into a bucket instead of down the wall. It is what makes it possible to wash an indoor coil properly in an occupied room rather than giving it a token wipe.

What the cord does

The cord is what draws the bib tight around the unit. If it will not hold tension, the bib gapes at the top and water runs behind it instead of into it — which is the one failure mode that puts water where you least want it, behind an installed indoor unit.

The cord works with the toggle cord lock. If tension is being lost, check the toggle before you replace the cord — the toggle is usually what has worn.

Fitting It

1. Note or photograph how the old cord is routed on the bib before you pull it out.
2. Tie or tape the new cord to the end of the old one and draw it through, so it follows the same path.
3. Thread both ends through the toggle cord lock.
4. Fit the bib to a unit and pull it tight before you start washing, to confirm it holds.

If the bib itself is torn where the cord runs, a new cord will not fix the leak — the bib needs replacing.

Can I use ordinary cord?

The cord has to suit the toggle lock and hold under wet load. The genuine part is cheap; it is worth fitting the right one.
