Where the mat goes
At the threshold of a containment area, on the clean side. Foot traffic leaving the work zone picks up the dust you have been controlling and carries it into the rest of the building — which is how a properly built containment still ends with dust complaints.
Peel a layer when the surface stops being tacky, not when it looks dirty. A loaded surface transfers dust rather than holding it.
It works with containment, not instead of it
A tacky mat controls what leaves on shoes. It does nothing about airborne dust, which is what barriers, edge seals and negative air handle.
