It is the wearing assembly inside the head: the part that contacts the floor and the part that determines how the tool performs.
Important — Two Generations of SX-12
Hydro-Force changed the SX-12 during production, and the brush assemblies are not interchangeable.

Why the Inner Shell and Brush Wear
The inner shell base and brush sit against the floor under vacuum and pressure for the whole of every job. As the brush wears, the head sits differently, the seal against the floor changes, and recovery drops.
The symptom is not a failure. It is a tool that has quietly stopped drying the floor as well as it used to, on a machine that tests fine.

Operating Advice
- Check the brush at service, not at failure. Wear is gradual and the operator adapts to it without noticing.
- Replace the vacuum relief ring at the same time if it is due — NM4086. Both affect how the head sits.
- Keep the head clear of grout crumbs and sand between jobs. Abrasive trapped under the shell accelerates wear on both.

Will it fit my SX-12?
If your tool is 2019 or later, yes. Older tools take AB50. Send us a photograph if you are unsure.
How do I know when the brush needs replacing?
When the tool leaves the floor wetter than it used to at the same pressure and pace.
Is the SX-15 assembly the same?
No. The SX-15 takes AB53.
