NA0839 Barb 1/4 Hose X 1/8 MP Nylon

Regular price $7.52

Product Overview

Nylon hose barb, 1/4 inch hose to 1/8 inch male pipe. It connects the Chemical Draw Tube (NA0817) to the injector valve on Hydro-Force sprayers.

Why Nylon

This barb sits in the chemical draw path, on the suction side, where it is in constant contact with undiluted concentrate. Nylon is used here rather than brass because it is not attacked by the acids and alkalis that go through a carpet cleaner's sprayer neat.

It is a small part in an inconspicuous place, and it is worth replacing whenever the draw tube is replaced — a barb whose ribs have been chewed by repeated tube changes will draw air.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why not brass?

Brass is fine on the water side but this barb sees neat concentrate. Nylon is the material the manufacturer specifies here.

How tight should it go?

Hand tight plus a nip. Nylon into a threaded port will strip if you treat it like a brass fitting.

Do I need thread tape?

On a tapered pipe thread, yes, sparingly. Keep it off the barb ribs.

What We See in the Field

This nylon barb usually suffers when old draw tube has hardened onto it and somebody attacks it with pliers. Cut stubborn tubing off carefully instead of twisting the small barb until it cracks, and push new tube fully home so the injector can't pull air at the connection.

Air in the draw line is usually the tube or this barb. Contact us if you are not sure which.
