Two jobs, not one
The obvious one is height — ceilings, high wall linings, the top of a stairwell after a roof leak. The one that gets used more is the floor: scanning a large slab on your feet instead of on your knees. On a 500 square metre commercial floor that is the difference between a survey you complete properly and one you rush.

Why it matters on a large floor
Surveying a slab means taking readings on a grid, and on a large floor that is a great many readings taken on your knees. The extension bracket and telescopic handle let the meter be walked across the floor at standing height, which is the difference between a survey that gets done properly and one that gets sampled thinly because the job is uncomfortable.
