The Delmhorst PX-30 is a paper moisture meter. It is calibrated for kraft paper from 4.3% to 18% moisture content and for baled scrap paper from 5% to 40%, with a 0 to 100 reference scale for other materials where no calibration exists.
This is a different instrument from a building meter. Paper moisture sits in a much narrower band, and the consequences of getting it wrong are curl, cracking, poor ink adhesion and jammed presses rather than structural damage. The calibration is what makes it useful.

Frequently asked questions
Can I use a building moisture meter on paper?
Not meaningfully. A wood scale reads paper as a number, but it is not calibrated for it, so the figure has no defensible relationship to actual moisture content. If paper moisture matters commercially, use a meter calibrated for paper.
What is the reference scale for?
Materials with no published calibration — board, composites, unusual stock. It gives a relative number you can track over time or compare between samples, but it is not a moisture percentage.
Why does the alarm matter in a paper environment?
Because the acceptable band is narrow. Setting an alert at the threshold means an operator checking a pallet does not have to interpret the number — the meter tells them when stock is out of specification.
