Overview
Liquid level mini switch. HydraMaster part number 000-157-004. It is a small reed-type level switch used where a full-size float assembly will not fit.
What it fits
CCW's own records list it for:
- HydraMaster SpitFire
- HydraMaster MAXX 450
- HydraMaster MAXX 470
We have not been able to locate this part number in the HydraMaster machine parts lists or the suggested spares schedule we hold, so the machine list above rests on CCW's own workshop record rather than on a published parts list. We are recording that honestly rather than dressing it up.
Before you order, tell us the machine and where the switch sits and we will confirm. We have raised this part with HydraMaster as part of an ongoing parts identification request, and this page will be updated when we have their answer.
Diagnosing a level switch
Reed level switches fail in two distinct ways:
- Stuck closed — the machine believes the level is reached when it is not. Whatever the switch was protecting keeps running.
- Stuck open — the machine reports a fault or refuses to run with the level perfectly normal.
Before condemning the switch, clean the float and the stem. Scale, fibre and detergent residue restrict float travel and produce exactly the same symptoms as a dead switch, at no cost to fix.
Then check the connections. The switch is sealed; the terminations in a wet environment are the weak point.
Fitting advice
Note the orientation before removal. A level switch fitted the wrong way up works backwards, and mini switches will thread in either way without complaint.
Seal the mounting properly — a weeping level switch fitting becomes an electrical fault before it becomes a leak you notice.

Frequently asked questions
Will it fit my machine?
Ask us first. Our record lists the SpitFire and MAXX 450/470, but we have not been able to confirm it against a published parts list.
What are the electrical ratings?
Not stated in the documentation we hold. Ask us if you need the specification before ordering.
Is it normally open or normally closed?
Not stated. Photograph your existing wiring before you remove the old switch.
My machine reports the wrong level. Is this the fix?
Clean the float and check the connections first — both are more common causes than a failed switch.
Send us your machine model and a photo of the switch you are replacing and we will confirm it before you order.
