Where It Sits in the Assembly
The Series 31 valve is a serviceable assembly: a shut-off disk that does the sealing, a brass nut, and this lock nut.
US parts breakdowns for the AA31 list the lock nut as a single item directly after the packing screw and the PTFE packings, and list the sealing seat as a separate brass and PTFE part (CP7490). For reference, Spraying Systems publish the AA31 trigger valve at up to 500 psi (35 bar), 5 gpm (19 L/min) and 93 °C (200 °F), with a forged brass body, stainless stem and PTFE seat and packing.
Rebuild Rather Than Replace
The valve body outlives its seals and fasteners several times over. Keeping the small parts on the shelf is what keeps a gun in service instead of in a bin.
- Release the pressure in the sprayer before you undo anything.
- Use a correctly sized spanner, not pliers, so the new nut is not rounded off at the first service.
- Replace worn packings at the same time if the valve has been weeping at the stem.
- Test at working pressure with water before going back to chemical.

Is this the same as the brass nut CP9036?
No. CP9036 is a separate brass nut in the same valve. They are listed as different parts, so check which one you have lost or damaged before ordering.
Will it fit my metal GunJet (NA0820)?
This nut is listed for the Series 31 valve. We have not confirmed it on the NA0820 metal gun, which is a different Spraying Systems gun. Ask us before ordering for that gun.
