Product Overview
This is the geared drive belt for the original TurboCat air-driven vacuum powerhead. It is manufactured by H-P Products as part number 7227 and supplied to the cleaning trade relabelled by Hydro-Force.
The TurboCat is a turbine powerhead: it takes no electricity, and the airflow through the vacuum hose spins a turbine that drives the brush roller through this belt. The belt is the only wearing link in that drive, which is why it is a stocked service part rather than a workshop repair.
Important — This Belt Does Not Fit the TurboCat Zoom
H-P Products' own replacement parts list for the TurboCat Zoom specifies a different belt: part 8439-01, a poly-V ribbed belt. The belt on this page is a cogged (geared) belt for the earlier powerhead. They are different parts and they are not interchangeable.
- If you are running a TurboCat Zoom, this belt is the wrong part. We do not currently stock the Zoom belt — contact us and we will source it.
- If you are running a RugRat hand powerhead, that is a different belt again (H-P part 6323). This one will not fit it.
What It Fits
H-P Products' turbine powerhead instructions cover this belt for the following powerhead models:
- 7160 and 7161
- T210
- 6970g, 6971g and 6972g
In the trade these are generally sold as TurboCat, Turbo-Cat II, Turbo-Cat Plus, TP-210 and T-210. If you are unsure which generation you have, the quickest check is the belt itself: the original takes a toothed belt that engages teeth on the drive shaft, the Zoom takes a smooth ribbed belt.
Fitting the Belt
H-P Products' instructions call for the belt to be twisted 90 degrees and pressed over the teeth of the drive shaft. That twist is not optional and it has a direction.
If the belt is twisted the wrong way the brush turns in the wrong direction. The powerhead will still run, so it is easy to miss — check that the brush is throwing debris rearward before you put it back on the job.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I know the belt has gone?
H-P Products lists three symptoms for a failing drive belt on the Zoom powerhead, and the same drive principle applies here: the turbine runs slow, the brush bounces in use, and the head becomes hard to push. A belt that has stretched rather than snapped will often still turn the brush, just weakly enough that the head stops agitating properly.
How often should it be replaced?
H-P Products does not publish a replacement interval for this belt. Some resellers suggest six to twelve months; that is their guidance rather than the manufacturer's, so we have not repeated it as a specification. Replace it on condition and on the symptoms above.
Why does the title say TurboCat when the SKU starts with TF?
The TF prefix is an internal supplier code and does not indicate the brand. This belt has no connection to Turbo Force International, whose products we also stock. It is an H-P Products part for the TurboCat.
Can I fit it myself?
Yes. It is a baseplate-off job on the original powerhead. On the Zoom, H-P recommends the belt be replaced by a qualified service technician.
Does the powerhead need electricity?
No. It is air-driven — the vacuum airflow spins the turbine. That is also why vacuum performance matters: a powerhead on a machine that is short of airflow will drive the brush weakly no matter how new the belt is.

What We See in the Field
When a TurboCat brush is still turning but has lost its bite, people often assume the turbine is worn out. A stretched belt can give almost the same symptoms — the brush turns with the head lifted but stalls or bounces once it meets the carpet. Before pulling the powerhead apart looking for a bigger problem, check the belt, and when fitting the replacement make sure the 90-degree twist is in the correct direction or you'll have the brush running backwards.
