Brass flo-thru quick connect with a 1/4 inch female pipe thread. It is the connector used where a solution line meets a wand or tool and you need full flow through the joint.
What "Flo-Thru" Means
A standard quick connect has an internal check valve that seals the line when you uncouple it. That is useful — it stops the hose emptying — but the valve is a restriction, and every restriction upstream of a jet costs you pressure.
A flo-thru connect has a smooth bore and no internal check. Nothing obstructs the flow. The trade-off is that the line will drain when you uncouple it, so it belongs where flow and pressure matter more than convenience: high pressure work, hot solution lines, and any tool that is already marginal on pressure at the jet.
Important — Check Your Thread Before Ordering
The word "male" in the name refers to the quick connect nipple, not the pipe thread. The pipe thread on this part is 1/4 inch FPT (female).
If you need the male pipe thread version, order the 1/4 inch MPT x 1/4 inch flo-thru brass male quick connect instead. The two are easy to confuse on a parts list and they do not interchange.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will it couple to my existing quick connects?
Hydro-Force 1/4 inch quick connects are designed to be compatible with other manufacturers' 1/4 inch couplers. If you are mixing brands on a high pressure line, couple them up dry and check the fit before you put pressure through.
Why would I choose flo-thru over a standard quick connect?
Because you are losing pressure at the jet and want it back. If your tool is performing well on a standard connect, there is no reason to change.
Is it rated for hot water?
Brass flo-thru connects are generally used on hot solution lines, but the manufacturer does not publish a maximum temperature or pressure for this part and we will not invent one. If you are specifying to a pressure or temperature limit, contact us and we will request the figures.
Should I use thread tape?
Yes on the pipe thread, as you would with any tapered pipe fitting. Never on the quick connect coupling face — tape on the sealing surface is a leak, not a seal.

What We See in the Field
When a quick connect becomes difficult to couple, leaks or starts restricting flow, replacing only the visibly damaged half isn't always the end of the problem. Years of connecting and disconnecting can wear both sides, and grit or corrosion inside the female coupling can quickly damage a new male fitting. If you're replacing quick connects unusually often, stop looking at the failed fitting and inspect what it's being plugged into.
