Product Overview
These 30cm x 45cm (12" x 18") crack-n-peel sheets can be used for smaller patches of mould and in tight spots where a full roll is more than the job needs.
MoldHold is an adhesive-coated polyester film that sticks to wet surfaces. That is the whole point of it: conventional poly and tape will not adhere to a damp, mould-affected wall, and MoldHold will.
Important — This Is Containment, Not Remediation
The manufacturer is explicit, and so are we: MoldHold is not designed to clean, kill or remove mould. It is a temporary first response that seals mould to the surface it is growing on and stops spores becoming airborne while you get set up, cut out and remove the affected material.
It does not replace remediation. It does not sanitise. Applying it does not make a building safe. What it does is stop the problem spreading through the air in the window between finding the mould and dealing with it properly — which, on an occupied property, is often the window that matters most.
How It Is Used
Application is much like applying contact paper. Cut the sheet to suit the affected area, apply it over the mould, and press it down onto the surface.
When the contained material is removed, fold the sheet in on itself so the contaminated face is enclosed, then bag it. Assessors who have tested the system in the field specifically recommend the smaller sheets over a roll for overhead work, where a large piece is difficult to control on your own.
To release the film from a surface, a d-limonene citrus solvent is effective.
Where the Sheets Suit Better Than a Roll
- Isolated patches — behind a vanity, under a window reveal, inside a cupboard
- Ceilings and overhead work, where a roll is unwieldy
- Tight spaces where you cannot get a full-width roll square to the surface
- Inspection work, where you are containing a small area rather than sheeting a room

Frequently Asked Questions
Does it kill mould?
No. The manufacturer states plainly that it is not designed to clean, kill or remove. It contains; it does not treat.
Will it stick to a wet wall?
Yes — that is its distinguishing property. It is formulated for low-energy and wet surfaces including damp plasterboard, concrete block and slick sheet materials.
How long can it stay in place?
The manufacturer describes it as a temporary first response but does not publish a maximum duration. Treat it as a measure that buys you time, not a permanent barrier.
Will it damage the surface when removed?
The manufacturer publishes no guidance on paint or finished surfaces beyond noting that a d-limonene solvent releases it. Where the substrate is being cut out anyway this is moot; where it is not, test an inconspicuous area first.
Can I use it on lead or asbestos work?
The manufacturer states it is equally suitable for containing lead, asbestos and other potentially airborne toxins. Note that the only published third-party air testing behind this product relates to asbestos rather than mould. Use it inside your own control plan and to your own jurisdiction's requirements.
Does it meet IICRC S520?
The manufacturer makes no standards claim for this product and neither will we. Use it within your own remediation procedure, not as a substitute for one.
Is there a roll version?
The manufacturer produces an 18" x 50' roll (MH0042) for larger areas. We do not currently stock it — contact us if you need it and we will look at sourcing it.

What We See in the Field
The important word with MoldHold is containment. We've seen people become so focused on what product will “kill the mould” that they overlook the immediate problem of disturbing a patch and spreading contamination while they're setting the job up. MoldHold buys you control over a small affected area while the proper remediation is organised; covering mould doesn't remediate it, and the contaminated material still has to be dealt with correctly.
