Overview
On/off switch for Razorback Sandia backpacks and spotters. Sandia part number 10-0025.
The machine it belongs to
Sandia's 3-Gallon Spot-XTract, model 50-1002 — a 100 CFM, 804 watt spotting extractor. CCW supplies it as the Razorback SpotX.
Where it sits in the machine
Item 44 in Sandia's machine parts list for the 3-Gallon Spot-XTract, listed as On/Off Switch, quantity 2 per machine.
Two are fitted. On the heated version, one switches the vacuum motor and one the heater or pump — which is exactly why a machine can lose one function and keep the other.
Diagnosing it
The switch is the most-cycled component on a spotter and one of the most exposed — operated many times a day on a machine that gets wet.
- One function works, the other does not — that is a switch, not a motor or a pump. There are two switches and they fail independently.
- Works only if you hold the rocker — worn contacts.
- Nothing at all — check the 20-foot cord (10-0448) and the strain relief before the switch. A cord damaged where it enters the machine is common on a spotter that gets dragged.
A switch is a fraction of the cost of a motor or pump, and it is the more likely fault. Check it first.
Electrical safety
Isolate at the plug before you start. This is a wet-use machine, so anything showing corrosion at the terminals comes out of service until it has been checked properly. Equipment used in Australian workplaces is generally subject to periodic electrical testing and tagging obligations.
Photograph the wiring before you disconnect anything.
Sandia's stated warranty on this machine
From the manual: lifetime on moulded components, five years on the vacuum motor, five years on the pump, and five years on all electrical components. That is the manufacturer's stated position — check with us before assuming a part is covered, because normal wear items and damage from neglect or abuse are excluded.
Related parts
Sandia also list the switch plate (10-1026), the 20-foot cord (10-0448) and the pigtail strain relief (10-0027). None is currently a stocked CCW line — ask us.
Frequently asked questions
How many does my machine take?
Two on the 3-Gallon Spot-XTract. If one has failed, the other has done the same hours.
Does it suit the backpacks as well?
CCW's record lists it for Sandia backpacks and spotters. Send us your model and we will confirm.
My machine has no power at all. Is this the fix?
Check the cord and strain relief first — on a dragged machine that is the more common failure.
Tell us the machine and exactly what has stopped working and we will help you sort a switch from a motor before you order.
