Delmhorst RC-1E Analog Wood Moisture Meter (inc Hardwood Case)

Regular price $1,776.25 Regular price $1,065.75

The Delmhorst RC-1E is an analogue wood moisture meter in a hardwood case. It reads 6% to 80% moisture content across a three-range analogue scale, with a temperature-stable circuit and built-in battery and calibration checks.

An analogue needle still has a place. It responds instantly and continuously, so sweeping across a board shows a gradient rather than a series of settled digits, and there is nothing to boot up or run flat mid-reading in the way a digital meter can.

Who it suits

Timber yards, sawmills and kiln operators working well above the range digital building meters cover — 80% is green timber territory, not building moisture.

Who it does not suit. Anyone needing recorded or exported readings, species correction from a menu, or drywall and concrete scales.

Compatible electrodes

The RC-1E takes standard Delmhorst wood electrodes. These are the useful ones for timber work.

Electrode Type and use
26-ES Slide hammer with insulated 496 pins, 29 mm penetration — the primary recommendation for timber
26-ED As the 26-ES with a penetration depth gauge
2-E Two-pin general purpose wood electrode
2-ET 2-E with a tapped handle for an extension pole
4-E Four-pin surface and general wood electrode
15-E Eight-pin electrode for thin stock and veneer
22-E / 22-ET Two-pin electrode for wood and building materials
830 series Long probe for sawdust and wood products — requires the H-4 handle
42-E/B T-handle electrode, shallow penetration
19-E Blade type wood electrode

Linked electrodes are stocked here. The 2-ET, 4-E, 15-E, 42-E/B and 830 series are compatible but not currently held — ask us and we will bring one in.

Frequently asked questions

Why 80% when building meters stop at 60%?

Because green and freshly sawn timber sits above the range building work deals with. If you are drying stock rather than checking a finished structure, that upper range is the reason to choose this meter.

Is analogue less accurate?

Not inherently. It gives a continuous reading rather than a sampled one, which suits sweeping a board. What it does not give you is a number to store, correct or export.

Does it take Delmhorst electrodes?

Yes — see the compatibility table above. The 26-ES slide hammer is the primary recommendation for timber work.

Support and warranty

Carpet Cleaners Warehouse is the exclusive Australian distributor for Delmhorst outside the agricultural sector. Service, calibration questions and warranty claims are handled here rather than sent overseas, and we hold electrodes and pins in stock.

Two year warranty on manufacturing defects. This does not exclude, restrict or modify your rights under the Australian Consumer Law. Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the ACL. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage.
