A 15 inch microfibre pad (bonnet) for the Cleanstar Polystar orbital floor machines. Microfibre bonnets are multipurpose for carpet and hard surfaces where mild abrasion and superior absorption are desired.
It is well suited to encapsulation carpet cleaning, as the last cleaning and drying step on commercial carpet, and to cleaning hardwood floors. Use with the POLYSTAR 15-inch Orbital Floor Polisher & Cleaner.
Microfibre bonnets on carpet and hard floors
Microfibre gives mild abrasion and high absorption, which suits interim carpet maintenance — a bonnet pass lifts surface soil and leaves the carpet usable in minutes rather than hours.
Bonnet cleaning is a maintenance method, not a restorative one. It cleans the top of the pile and does not reach the base, so it complements hot water extraction rather than replacing it. Presenting it as a full clean is how a customer ends up disappointed a month later.
Which Polystar Machine Does It Fit?
CCW lists this pad for the Polystar 15 inch orbital scrubber and floor polisher (PS-015).
Cleanstar's instruction manual for the 13 inch Polystar (PS-001) lists part PS-08 as that machine's standard microfibre cleaning pad, and Australian distributors list the PS-08 pad as 15 inch (approx. 380 mm) to suit both the PS-001 and PS-015. We have not confirmed the fit on the 13 inch machine ourselves, so if you run the Polystar 13 inch, ask us before ordering.

Using the Pad
- Vacuum the carpet thoroughly first. A bonnet loads up quickly with dry soil that a vacuum would have removed.
- With the machine unplugged, fit the pad flat and centred on the pad holder, then refit the holder to the machine and check the pad sits level.
- Guide the machine in a steady back-and-forth motion, as Cleanstar's manual describes.
- Check the pad face regularly and turn or change it before it is saturated.
Turn the Bonnet
Once a face is loaded it stops absorbing and starts redistributing. Turn or change the bonnet far more often than feels necessary — most poor bonnet results are a saturated pad, not a wrong method.
Care
Cleanstar does not publish a washing specification for this pad. As a general rule for microfibre, rinse soil and chemical residue out after each job, avoid fabric softener (it coats the fibres and reduces absorbency) and let the pad dry fully before it goes back in the van.
Frequently Asked Questions
Should I use microfibre or cotton?
Microfibre gives more abrasion, which suits interim cleaning. Heavy cotton absorbs more water and is the choice for a final drying pass after extraction. The cotton alternative is the Polystar white cotton pad.
Does bonnet cleaning replace hot water extraction?
No. It cleans the top of the pile only. Use it for interim maintenance between restorative extraction cleans, not instead of them.
Will it fit the 13 inch Polystar?
Cleanstar's PS-001 manual lists PS-08 as that machine's microfibre pad, and distributors sell it for both machines, but CCW lists it for the 15 inch machine and has not confirmed the 13 inch fit. Ask us before ordering for a PS-001.
Can I use it on timber floors?
Yes — hardwood floor cleaning is one of its listed uses. Keep moisture to a minimum on timber and follow the floor finish manufacturer's cleaning guidance.
