A three-way valve on a chemical circuit does one job that matters: it lets you select between the chemical supply and a second source — normally clean water — without breaking the line. That is what makes priming and flushing a one-hand operation rather than a strip-down.

Why priming and flushing matter on a chemical circuit
Chemical injection systems fail in two predictable ways, and both are preventable.
Air in the line. A chemical pump that has been run dry, or a line that has been opened, will not restart reliably until the air is out. Without a way to prime, that means chasing the air through the system with the machine running.
Chemistry left in the line. Detergent left standing in a chemical circuit overnight — particularly anything alkaline, and anything that dries hard — is what kills metering pumps, flow meters and injectors. Flushing through with clean water at the end of the day is the single cheapest piece of maintenance on the machine, and a three-way valve is what makes it quick enough that people actually do it.
If your machine has one fitted, use it. If it does not, that end-of-day flush is still worth doing the slow way.
