Chemical Flowmeter Repair Kit

Regular price $119.99

Overview

Repair kit for the HydraMaster chemical flow meter. HydraMaster part number 000-078-015, listed as Kit, Chemical Flowmeter Repair and, in some manuals, simply Kit, Flow Meter.

It covers flow meters 074-013, 074-020 and Prochem PP18-808522.

What it fits

Named in the parts lists of:

  • HydraMaster CDS 4.2 / 4.7
  • HydraMaster CDS 4.8
  • HydraMaster SpitFire 4.0
  • HydraMaster Crossfire 4.2

Because the kit is specified by meter rather than by machine, it suits any machine running one of the three meters listed above.

Repair before replacement

Most chemical flow meter faults are seals and deposits, not mechanical failure. Before you replace a meter, work through this:

  • Float sticking or hanging at one point — the tube is fouled or scored at that point. Clean it.
  • Weeping at the fittings — seals. This kit.
  • Reading inconsistently day to day — check you are reading the float at the same point each time before you blame the meter.
  • Cracked body or damaged tube — this is the one case where the kit will not help. Replace the meter.

The relevant meter is Meter Chemical Flow (Knob) — 074-013.

Fitting advice

Note the orientation of every seal as it comes out, and take a photo before you strip it. Flow meters go back together in a way that looks right and is wrong.

Clean the tube properly while it is apart — that is half the reason the meter stopped behaving. Do not use anything abrasive on the tube; scoring it will cause the exact fault you are trying to fix.

Flush the chemical system through with clean water before you refit, so the new seals do not go straight back into the deposits that killed the old ones.

Frequently asked questions

Which meters does it fit?

074-013, 074-020 and Prochem PP18-808522.

What is in the kit?

HydraMaster does not itemise the kit contents in the documentation we hold, so we are not going to list contents we cannot verify. Ask us if you need to know exactly what is included before ordering.

Will a repair fix an erratic reading?

If the cause is seals or deposits, yes. If the tube is scored or the body is cracked, no — replace the meter.

How often should the meter be serviced?

On condition. Machines running heavy alkaline chemistry, or that are not flushed at the end of the day, need it far more often.

Tell us the fault and the machine and we will help you decide between a clean, this kit, and a new meter before you spend anything.
