The flow meter sets and shows the rate at which chemical is metered into the solution stream. It is what stands between a repeatable dilution and a guess.

- HydraMaster SpitFire 4.0
HydraMaster's suggested spares schedule lists it against the SpitFire 3.2. It also appears on Prochem equipment under part number PP18-808522.
Repair before replacement
A flow meter that is sticking, weeping or reading erratically does not always need replacing. HydraMaster list a repair kit:
- 078-015 — Chemical Flowmeter Repair Kit, which covers 074-013, 074-020 and Prochem PP18-808522
Try the repair kit first. The failure is usually seals and the float sticking in a fouled tube, not the meter body.
Operating advice
Flush the chemical system with clean water at the end of the day, particularly after anything alkaline or anything that dries hard. Most flow meter failures are deposits in the tube rather than mechanical wear.
Read the float at the same point each time — normally the top of the float unless the meter states otherwise. Half the inconsistency operators blame on the meter is reading it differently on different days.
A float that jumps or hangs at one point in its travel is telling you the tube is fouled or scored at that point. Clean it before you condemn it.

HydraMaster does not state the calibrated range in the parts lists we hold, and we are not going to quote a figure we cannot verify. Ask us if you need the specification.
Should I buy the repair kit or the meter?
Try the kit first unless the body is cracked or the tube is damaged. It is the cheaper answer and it is usually the right one.
