Vaportek odour control systems provide immediate odour neutralisation in situations where other methods may fail.

The Restorator is an ideal unit for odour treatment in vehicles and areas up to 200 m². Just load the compact machine with an industrial odour neutralising cartridge and turn it on. Cartridges are rated for up to 200 hours of service. After initial restoration, scented secondary cartridges may be used to diffuse a pleasant scent into the area.

These systems incorporate natural, non-toxic essential oils and odour neutralising compounds in patented membrane cartridges that breathe a penetrating dry vapour into the air. Unlike fogging and ozone treatments, Vaportek products can be used in occupied structures. They will not harm people, plants or animals, or affect fabrics, rubber, adhesives and other materials and surfaces. The systems have been proven effective in fire and flood restoration, industrial and healthcare facilities, even in eliminating difficult-to-remove urine odours.

How It Works

The Restorator is a small fan unit that pushes air through one Vaportek industrial cartridge. The cartridge releases a dry vapour that neutralises airborne odour. Vaportek describes the Restorator as built for rapid, high-impact treatments rather than continuous use.

Where It Fits

  • Vehicles after smoke, spoiled food or animal odour.
  • Rooms and small buildings after fire, flood or urine jobs, once the source has been removed or cleaned.
  • Occupied sites where ozone or fogging would mean evacuating people.

It treats airborne odour. It does not clean soot, urine or sewage out of materials. Source removal and cleaning come first.

Cartridges

Vaportek lists its 3X Industrial and S.O.S. (Smoke Odour Solution) industrial cartridges for the Restorator, Restorator DUO and Optimum 4000. CCW lists the S.O.S. cartridge online; ask us for 3X Industrial. Replace the cartridge cap between jobs to extend its life.

CCW's area figure is a floor area and Vaportek's is a volume, so they are not directly comparable: 200 m² at a 2.7 m ceiling is about 540 m³, close to Vaportek's figure. The cartridge life figures differ (200 vs 270 hours); we are confirming which applies to the cartridges we supply. Vaportek lists CE and cULus approvals for its US unit; ask us for the Australian electrical compliance details of the 230 V model.

Operating Advice

  1. Remove or clean the odour source first.
  2. Load one cartridge, remove its cap and set the unit where the airflow can circulate through the space. An air mover helps in larger rooms.
  3. Close the space up and run the unit for the treatment period.
  4. Refit the cartridge cap when you finish, and store cartridges in a cool, dry place.
  5. Plug in to an earthed, RCD-protected outlet and keep the lead clear of wet areas.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can people stay in the building?

Vaportek says its products can be used in occupied structures. See the note below on sensitive occupants.

Is it a replacement for ozone or hydroxyl?

It is a different approach: a neutralising vapour rather than an oxidiser. It suits occupied sites and vehicles. On severe, structural smoke odour, a sealer and source removal are usually still needed.

Which cartridge for smoke?

The S.O.S. cartridge, which Vaportek formulates for fire and smoke restoration.

Occupied Buildings

Vaportek describes its cartridges and membranes as natural essential-oil odour neutralisers that release a dry vapour, and says its systems can be used in occupied buildings without harming people, plants or animals. Those are the manufacturer's statements. As with any fragrance or odour product, keep occupants with fragrance sensitivities or respiratory conditions in mind, and remove the odour source first.
