Specifically formulated for use in fire and smoke restoration situations, Vaportek offers "S.O.S." (Smoke Odour Solution) as an alternative to its proven 3X Industrial fragrance.
Vaportek products have proven exceptionally useful in fire and flood restoration projects. The Vaportek compound effectively neutralises impregnated smoke odour and, unlike ozone generators, does not harm fibrous materials. Additionally, buildings with smoke contamination may be occupied while the Vaportek system is in use.
Vaportek's compound is an odour neutraliser (not a masking agent). It modifies the olfactory nature of unwanted odours to a point of odour disappearance. When two substances of given concentrations are mixed, the resulting odour may be far less intense than that of the separate components and may not be perceptible. This is the principle behind odour modification or neutralisation, and the basis for Vaportek's odour-neutralising products.
What It Fits
This is an industrial cartridge. Vaportek lists its industrial cartridges for:
- Vaportek Restorator
- Vaportek Restorator DUO
- Vaportek Optimum 4000
It does not fit the Vapor Shark, which uses flat membranes (see the Vapor Shark S.O.S. membrane). For duct or air-mover use without a machine, see the Heavy Duty Stand Alone cartridge.

Vaportek lists these points about its products:

Vaportek describes its cartridges and membranes as natural essential-oil odour neutralisers that release a dry vapour, and says its systems can be used in occupied buildings without harming people, plants or animals. Those are the manufacturer's statements. As with any fragrance or odour product, keep occupants with fragrance sensitivities or respiratory conditions in mind, and remove the odour source first.

Where It Fits in a Smoke Job
Smoke odour lives in soot and in porous materials. A cartridge treats the air while you work, and helps between visits, but it does not replace cleaning soot, removing unsalvageable materials and sealing where needed. Use it alongside that work, not instead of it.

Care and Storage
- Replace the cap on the cartridge between applications to extend its life (Vaportek).

S.O.S. is Vaportek's smoke formula. 3X Industrial is its general organic odour formula. Ask us for 3X Industrial Restorator cartridges.
Can the building stay occupied?
Vaportek says buildings with smoke contamination may be occupied while its system runs. See the note above on sensitive occupants.
How do I know when it is used up?
Output fades as the membrane is spent. Track run hours against the rated life and replace when odour control drops off.
