Important — Direct Vent Has a Limit
Direct-vent goggles breathe through open vents, which is what stops them fogging. Those same vents mean they are not the right protection where fine mist, vapour or dust is the hazard — fogging work and chemical application call for indirect-vent or non-vented goggles.
Check the safety data sheet for the product you are using. It states the eye protection required.
They Fit Over Prescription Glasses
Which matters, because the most common reason eye protection is not worn is that it will not go over the glasses the technician needs to see.

Care
- Rinse the lens with clean water and dry with a soft, clean cloth. Grit wiped across a dry lens is what scratches it.
- Keep solvents away from the lens and frame unless the manufacturer says they are safe.
- Store them in a bag or case, not loose in a tool box.
- Replace goggles with a cracked lens, a split frame or a perished headband.
Frequently Asked Questions
Are direct-vent goggles suitable for chemical application?
Not where mist or vapour is the hazard. The open vents that stop them fogging also let fine mist and vapour in. Check the SDS for the chemical and use the eye protection it specifies.
Will they fit over my glasses?
They fit over most prescription glasses. Very large or wide frames may not fit.
Why do they not fog up?
Two reasons: the direct vents let air move through the goggle, and the lens is anti-fog treated.
