Quick Connect 1/8 inch Female

Product Overview

The 1/8 inch female quick connect — the coupler half of the joint, in high pressure brass with a double O-ring seal. This is the hand-tool and sprayer size.

High pressure brass construction with a double O-ring seal. Interchangeable with quick couplers from other manufacturers of the same size and thread standard.

Sold as Halves

Quick connects are sold as halves, not as pairs. A working joint needs one of each:

Half Part Carries the seal
Male Quick Connect 1/8 Inch Male (PAF03) No
Female Quick Connect 1/8 Inch Female (PAF04, this product) Yes — double O-ring

The female half carries the seal and the locking mechanism, so it is the half that wears and the half to suspect when a joint weeps.

Where the 1/8 Inch Size Is Used

1/8 inch is the hand-tool and sprayer size. Solution lines and wands run 1/4 inch — see NA010 and NA012 for that size.

Valved or Flow-Through?

These are standard valved quick connects: an internal poppet shuts off when you uncouple, so the line does not drain. The poppet is also a restriction, and every restriction upstream of a jet costs pressure.

Where flow matters more than the drip — high pressure work, hot solution lines, a tool already marginal at the jet — a flow-through coupling is the better answer. See Flow Through, Brass (PKL01-BRS) or Flow Through, Stainless (PKL01-SS).

Check Both Ends Before Ordering

Quick connect naming is genuinely inconsistent across this range, and it causes more wrong orders than anything else in the catalogue. A fitting can be "male" as a coupling half and still carry a female pipe thread on its other end.

Before ordering, tell us what is either side of the joint — the tool or machine, and the fitting already on the hose — and we will confirm the coupling half and the thread standard.

Hydro-Force does not publish a pressure or temperature rating or a thread standard for these couplings. Rather than quote figures we cannot source, we have left them out — ask us if a rating matters for your application.

Operating Advice

  • Depressurise the line before uncoupling.
  • Seal the threaded end as any tapered thread. Never tape the coupling face.
  • Keep the faces clean — grit into a coupling scores the seat, and a scored seat leaks with every new O-ring.
  • Replace a coupling that has become stiff to connect. Stiffness is wear.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does it come with the male half?

No. Quick connects are sold as halves. You need PAF03 as well, or an existing male plug.

The joint weeps — what first?

The O-rings in this half. If new seals still weep, the sealing bore is scored and the coupler needs replacing.

Will it fit couplers from another brand?

Generally yes, at the same size and thread standard. Tell us what you have and we will confirm.

Is 1/8 inch the same as my wand fittings?

Usually not. Wands and solution lines run 1/4 inch. 1/8 inch is the hand-tool and sprayer size.

Brass or stainless?

Brass is fine for carpet cleaning solution at normal pressure and temperature. Stainless earns its price where acidic tile and grout chemistry is routine.

What We See in the Field

The female half fails first, every time, because it holds the seal and the locking balls. When a 1/8 inch joint starts to weep, replace both halves rather than chasing it — at this price the second half costs less than the second visit.
