Product Overview
Acorn tank strainer, 1/2 inch FIP, 80 mesh.
What an Acorn Strainer Does
It is a domed stainless mesh screen that threads onto the pick-up fitting inside the solution tank, at the pump's suction inlet. Everything the pump draws passes through it first.
Its job is to stop grit, scale and undissolved chemical reaching the pump and blocking the jets. It is a suction-side filter — not an in-line high pressure filter, and not the injector strainer on a sprayer.
Mesh Follows Thread Size
| Thread | Mesh | CCW part |
| 1/4 inch | 50 mesh | Acorn Strainer 1/4 Inch (PCE290-08) |
| 1/2 inch | 80 mesh | Acorn Strainer 1/2 Inch (PP14-806540) |
| 3/4 inch | 40 mesh (equivalent part) | Acorn Strainer 3/4 Inch (PP14-806504) |
Order by the thread on your tank fitting, not by the mesh you want. They are not offered as a mesh choice — each size comes as it comes.
Cleaning and Replacement
It is a washable stainless screen — clean it rather than replace it, until the mesh tears or the frame distorts.
The symptom of a blocked one is a pump that cavitates, loses pressure, or runs hot. If pressure has fallen off and the jets are clean, look in the tank before you look at the pump.

Frequently Asked Questions
Where does it go?
Inside the solution tank, on the pump pick-up fitting.
Which size do I need?
Match the thread on your tank fitting. Mesh is fixed per size — it is not a separate choice.
Can I clean it or must I replace it?
Clean it. Stainless mesh washes out. Replace it when the mesh is torn or the frame is distorted.
Is this the same as the strainer in my sprayer?
No. The sprayer draw-tube strainer is the Acorn Strainer 1/8 Inch (NA0840). This one is a tank pick-up strainer.

What We See in the Field
Customer says, "I've got pressure, then it falls away." A screen can pass enough water at idle and then choke under full flow as debris is pulled against it, so intermittent pressure is a good reason to inspect it. Clean the tank at the same time — putting a clean strainer back into a dirty tank only resets the clock.
Tell us the thread on your tank fitting and we will confirm the right strainer.
