Important: flat lid or dome?
Razorback portables are supplied with either the heavy-duty flip-top lid or the clear perspex dome. This seal is for the flat (flip-top) lid only. If your machine has the clear dome, contact us and we will confirm the correct seal for it.

Why replace your seal?
Over time, seals harden, crack or lose flexibility, leading to leaks or poor performance. Replacing the seal restores the integrity of the lid and keeps the machine working as it should.
On a portable the lid seal is part of the vacuum system. Air that leaks in around the lid is air the vacuum motors are not pulling through the wand, so the machine sounds the same but lifts less water at the tool — wetter carpet and longer drying times.
Before you replace it
- Clean the seal and the tank rim. Grit or dried residue on the rim stops a good seal from sealing and is worth ruling out first.
- Check that the lid closes evenly on its hinge and is not twisted or cracked.
- Look for a seal that is flattened, hard, split or no longer sits fully in place. Any of those means it is time to replace it.

Frequently asked questions
Does this seal fit the clear perspex dome?
No. It is for the Razorback flat (flip-top) lid only. Contact us for the dome seal.
Does a new flip-top lid come with a seal?
Yes. The RB1001-A lid is listed with a rubber seal included, so you only need this part when the seal on an existing lid has worn or been damaged.
How do I fit it?
Remove the old seal, clean the channel and the tank rim, and press the new seal into place all the way round.
How do I know the seal is the problem?
Poor water pick-up at the wand with the vacuum motors sounding normal, air hissing at the lid, or water weeping at the lid when the machine is tilted. Check the dump valve and hose cuffs as well — they leak air in the same way.
