A swivel cuff that also carries the solution line through the vacuum hose.
It does everything a plain swivel does, and adds a sealed pass-through so the solution line runs inside the vacuum hose instead of being taped or cable-tied alongside it.
What the Swivel Actually Does
You rotate the wand constantly through a cleaning stroke. With a fixed cuff, that rotation goes straight into the hose, which winds up, stores the twist and then kinks or drags against you.
A swivel cuff decouples the two. The manufacturer's own wording is that it "holds securely on the hose yet will swivel freely on the wand or tool", so the hose lies still while the tool turns.
If you find yourself stopping to untwist the hose, that is the job this part does. It costs more once and saves the hose from being torqued every stroke.
Why Run the Solution Line Inside
Taping a solution line to a vacuum hose gives you a bundle that snags on furniture, catches at doorways and is awkward to reel. Running it through the middle gives you one smooth hose to roll out and nothing to catch.
The cuff is the part that makes it work — it lets the solution tubing pass through the centre while keeping an airtight vacuum seal around it. A pass-through that leaks air costs you lift at the tool, so the seal is the whole point.
The pass-through is also used for routing an extension cord to a powered wand.
This cuff is supplied as one of the three in the SX-7 Hide-A-Hose Whip Assembly (AH180).
Thread and Slip — Not Male and Female
Standard vacuum hose cuffs are specified as thread x slip, and getting this straight removes most of the confusion in this part of the catalogue.
- The threaded end screws onto the vacuum hose. It engages the external helix of the hose itself, which is why it grips.
- The slip end is a plain socket that pushes onto the wand or tool tube.
There is no male or female option on a standard screw cuff. That terminology belongs to the Flash Cuff quick-connect range, which is a different and non-interchangeable system. If someone has told you to order a "female 1.5 inch cuff", they most likely mean a Flash Cuff.
Worth knowing: there is no published thread standard, pitch or TPI for vacuum cuff threads, from any manufacturer we can find. The pitch is set by the helix of the hose, not by a fitting standard. Cuffs from different makers usually interchange, but test the joint before you rely on it.
Check the Solution Line Before You Order
This cuff has a 3/16 inch ID pass-through. PMF make an otherwise identical cuff, Cuff 1SV, with a 1/4 inch ID. They look the same and they are listed under confusingly similar codes, but a 1/4 inch solution line will not pass through this one.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference from a plain swivel cuff?
The Swivel Cuff 1.5 Inch (AH41) only swivels. This one swivels and passes the solution line or a power lead through the hose.
Will it seal properly?
That is what it is designed to do. A pass-through that leaks costs lift at the tool, so if you notice a drop in recovery after fitting, check the seal around the tubing first.
Does it fit powered wands?
The pass-through is used for extension cords on power wands as well as solution lines.
Is the part number CUFF4SV or CUFF15SW?
CUFF4SV. The two codes are not two spellings of one part — they are two different cuffs. PMF list Cuff 4SV with a 3/16 inch ID and Cuff 1SV with a 1/4 inch ID, otherwise identical. This is the 3/16 inch one.

What We See in the Field
A swivel cuff should turn freely enough to take twist out of the hose; once it binds, the hose itself starts absorbing every turn of the wand. If suction has gradually fallen off, flex the cuff while the machine is running and listen for a leak — worn swivel joints can leak only when they are pulled sideways.
