IAQ 6100 is a clear mould-resistant* coating for professional use that contains a fungistatic agent to resist mould growth on the dry coating surface. It is a durable, flexible and permeable 100% acrylic water-based coating.
Fiberlock recommend it for wood, plaster, wallboard (plasterboard / sheetrock), concrete, masonry block, primed metal and galvanised metal. It can also be used on new structural materials during building construction.

What It Does — and What It Does Not
IAQ 6100 goes on after a surface has been cleaned or remediated. The coating resists mould growth on its own dry surface. Fiberlock are explicit about the limits: no mould resistance claim is made other than to the coating itself, and the product does not protect users or others against food-borne or disease-causing bacteria, viruses, germs or other disease-causing organisms.
It is not a treatment for existing mould. Surfaces must be free of mould, mildew and staining before coating (see Surface Preparation), and coating over active growth or damp material is not remediation. It is for interior use only.

Surface Preparation
Surfaces to be coated must be free of dust, mildew, mould, dirt, grease, loose paint, oil, glue size, calcimine, wax, soap and other surface contamination. Patch irregularities with vinyl patching paste or an appropriate patching compound.
Fiberlock's directions: clean mould-stained surfaces with Advanced Peroxide Cleaner, or use a US EPA-registered antimicrobial disinfectant cleaner such as their IAQ 2000, IAQ 2500, ShockWave or ShockWave RTU. Those four are US products that CCW does not sell. In Australia, use a cleaner registered for that use here if your scope calls for one.
- Wallboard, plasterboard, gypsum board: sand joint compound smooth, but avoid abrading the paper.
- Ferrous metal: clean, then prime with a rust-inhibiting direct-to-metal primer (Fiberlock specify their IAQ 4000).
- Wood: seal knots and stains with a stain-blocking primer (Fiberlock specify their IAQ 5000).
- Masonry block: apply one coat of block filler if a denser surface is wanted (Fiberlock specify their IAQ 3000).
IAQ 3000, 4000 and 5000 are not stocked by CCW — ask us if you need them.
Old paint. Scraping or sanding old paint can release lead dust. Treat older paint as suspect and follow Australian lead-safe work practice before you prepare the surface.
Moisture. Do not coat surfaces above 15% moisture content. Fiberlock do not state which meter scale the 15% refers to, so check with a meter suited to the substrate, such as the Delmhorst BDX-20, and dry the structure first.
Application
- Brush: synthetic, nylon or polyester bristle
- Roller: synthetic fibre, 3/8 in (10 mm) nap or longer
- Airless spray: 0.015–0.019 in tip at 2,000–2,800 psi (138–193 bar)
IAQ 6100 is supplied ready to use but can be thinned sparingly with water — up to 1/2 US pint per US gallon (about 62 mL per litre) — for proper application consistency if necessary. Apply generously and uniformly by brush, roller or airless spray. Apply one coat and make sure the finished surface is properly sealed; two coats may be required on some porous surfaces.
Do not apply when air or surface temperature is below 10 °C (50°F) or when drying conditions are poor. Use adequate ventilation during application.
Correction. This page previously gave spray settings of 0.019–0.021 in tips at 2,000–3,000 psi, coverage of 25–40 m² (smooth) and 15–30 m² (porous) per 4 L, and a recoat time of 4 hours, and referred to "IAQ 6000" in several places. None of those figures appear on the IAQ 6100 data sheet linked below; they have been replaced with that sheet's figures.

It goes noticeably further per litre than the white IAQ 6000, because a clear coating carries far less solid.
Technical Data
Imperial figures are the manufacturer's; the metric equivalents are ours. Two Fiberlock data sheet editions disagree on several properties. The "Linked PDS" column is the data sheet in Product Documents below; the other column is the figures this page previously quoted as the 2023 edition. We have not averaged them and are confirming which is current with the supplier.

Choosing between IAQ 6100 and IAQ 6000. The permeance figures are the real difference: 4.6 perms for this clear coating against 42 perms for the white IAQ 6000, which is far the more breathable of the two. Where the substrate needs to keep releasing moisture after coating, that matters more than the colour does.
Safety, Transport and Clean-Up
From the Australian SDS (ICP Group Australasia, version 6.15, revised June 2026):

- Transport: UN 3082, Environmentally hazardous substance, liquid, n.o.s., Class 9, Packing Group III (the SDS also lists special provisions, including AU01 — see section 14)
Avoid release to the environment and collect any spillage. Clean tools and drippings with warm soapy water before the coating dries, and do not wash brushes, rollers or spray equipment into stormwater — dispose of wash water and waste as the SDS and your local authority require.
When spraying, Fiberlock (US) specify a NIOSH-approved respirator with any R, P, N or HE filter. In Australia, use a respirator and filter to AS/NZS 1716 selected for the job — for example the 3M 7502 or 3M 7503 half-face respirator with suitable filters.
Storage: store in a dry place between 4.5 °C and 32 °C and keep from freezing. Stir thoroughly. Do not mix with any other coatings, solvents or colours in oil.
CPVC pipe: Fiberlock advise checking pipe markings and contacting the pipe manufacturer before applying any Fiberlock product to CPVC pipe.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does IAQ 6100 kill mould?
No. It resists mould growth on the dry coating surface only. It does not treat mould in or under the coating, and Fiberlock make no claim beyond the coating itself.
Can I coat over mould or staining?
No. The surface must be clean, free of mould and mildew, dry (15% moisture or less) and sound before coating. Remove what the scope says to remove, clean what stays, then coat.
Clear or white — which one?
IAQ 6100 is clear, so the substrate remains visible for later inspection. The white IAQ 6000 is far more breathable (42 perms against 4.6). If the substrate must keep drying after coating, look at the white product.
How many coats?
One coat, applied generously, is Fiberlock's standard. Some porous surfaces need two to seal properly — recoat after 4–8 hours at 21–25 °C.
Can it be used outside?
No. Fiberlock specify interior use only.
Is it dangerous goods?
Yes. The current Australian SDS classifies it as UN 3082, Class 9, Packing Group III (environmentally hazardous). Check section 14 of the SDS for how that applies to your load.
