The inlet strainer for Hydro-Force injection sprayers. It sits inside the Brass Strainer Body (NA0802) with the Brass Strainer Adapter (NA0804) and filters machine water before it reaches the injector valve.

If the Sprayer Will Not Draw Chemical
Hydro-Force's own troubleshooting sequence works from cheapest to most expensive, and it is worth following in that order rather than replacing the valve first.
- Acorn Strainer (NA0840) — the strainer sitting in the concentrate. Clean or replace.
- Mesh Strainer without Check Valve (NA0803) — the inlet strainer filtering machine water. Clean or replace.
- The metering tip — Yellow Metering Tip (NA0816) or Brown Metering Tip (NA0816C). Clean or replace.
- Water Nozzle with O-Ring (NA0808) — a clogged or worn water nozzle loses the velocity that creates the draw.
- Injector Valve Repair Kit (NA0841) — if the container backfills rather than failing to draw, this is the kit for it.
- Injector Valve Complete (NA0809A) — replace the whole valve only once the above are ruled out.
Chemical build-up inside the valve is also a listed cause. Hydro-Force's remedy is to flush the unit for about twenty seconds with clean water containing an ounce or two of acid or vinegar until the lines run clear.
Why the Inlet Strainer Matters
This strainer is the first item on Hydro-Force's fault list for a sprayer that will not draw chemical, and it is the cheapest thing on it. Everything downstream — the metering tip orifice, the water nozzle, the check valve seat — is small enough to be stopped by grit this screen is there to catch.
It is a clean-or-replace part, not a fit-and-forget one.

Frequently Asked Questions
How often should I clean it?
On condition. If you are on tank water, bore water or a site with old galvanised plumbing, check it far more often than you would on clean town supply.
What is the difference between this and the acorn strainer?
This one filters the water going in. The Acorn Strainer (NA0840) filters the concentrate coming out of the bottle. Both appear on the same fault list and they do different jobs.
Do I need the check valve version?
Not here. The Strainer Screen with Check Valve (NA0825) is a tip strainer that stops the jet dripping at shut-off — a different part in a different position.
Can I just run without it?
You can, and the sprayer will work until something small gets through and blocks the metering tip or scores the water nozzle. It is a two-dollar part protecting a three-hundred-dollar valve.
