Product Overview

A TeeJet-pattern strainer screen with an integral check valve, in brass. It sits at the spray tip rather than at the inlet, and its job is to stop the jet dripping when you release the trigger.

Check Valve or Plain Screen?

The check valve holds solution in the line at shut-off. On hard surfaces and upholstery that matters, because a drip leaves a mark you then have to work out.

The trade-off is pressure. A ball check has to be pushed open before flow starts, and that opening pressure is taken off what reaches the jet. If you are already marginal on pressure, a plain screen will spray better and drip more.

For the inlet side of the sprayer you want the plain Mesh Strainer without Check Valve (NA0803) instead — this is not an inlet part.

Will this stop my wand dripping?

That is exactly what it is for. If the drip is coming from the trigger valve rather than the tip, this will not fix it.

Does it cost me pressure?

Yes, by roughly its opening pressure. On a low-pressure application that can be the difference between a clean fan and a dribble.

Can I use it on the sprayer inlet?

No. Use the Mesh Strainer without Check Valve (NA0803) there.

What is the ball and spring inside?

A replacement ball and spring is available as a separate service item. If the check has stopped sealing but the screen is sound, that is the cheaper repair — contact us.

A strainer/check-valve assembly can create two very different symptoms: restriction when the screen blocks, or dribbling when the check valve no longer seats. Clean the screen first, then test shut-off; don't punch the mesh out because you're tired of cleaning it — the debris will simply move downstream to the jet.
