Where hard water removal is done
Shower screens, glass, tile and stone that have been etched by mineral deposits. A drill-driven backing plate gives you controlled speed and pressure in a small area, which is what these surfaces need — a rotary polisher is too fast and too large for a shower recess.
Start slow and keep it wet
Heat is what damages glass and stone during polishing. Low speed, light pressure and enough lubrication to keep the surface cool. If the pad is dry and the surface is hot, you are grinding rather than polishing.
Test first
Toughened glass and coated shower screens do not all respond the same way, and some coatings cannot be polished at all without permanent marking. Test in a corner low on the screen.
