Tramex Infrared Surface Thermometer - IRT2
The IRT2 is a handheld, dual laser, non-contact Infrared Thermometer with 12:1 distance-to-spot ratio and audible and visible high/low set point alarms. It is used to measure and display surface temperatures within the range of -50°C to 650°C and has an accuracy of approximately 1 to 1.5% (see Specifications for details). The IRT2 has a fast response time (0.15 sec) and is powered by a 9V battery.

Where an infrared thermometer earns its place
Ambient relative humidity and air temperature give you dew point. Surface temperature tells you whether a surface sits below it. Below dew point means condensation, and condensation is what causes coating failures, mould growth and readings that make no sense against the ambient conditions.
Infrared reads at a distance and covers area quickly, which makes it the right tool for scanning a wall or slab for cold spots. On shiny, dark or textured surfaces, where emissivity is uncertain, a contact temperature probe gives the more dependable figure. Surveyors carrying both scan with infrared and confirm with contact.

Frequently asked questions
Does it measure moisture?
No. It measures surface temperature only. Used alongside a moisture meter's hygrometer it gives you dew point and the condensation risk, which is a different question from how wet the material is.
Why do readings vary on different surfaces?
Emissivity. Infrared thermometers assume a surface emits heat in a predictable way, and shiny or reflective surfaces do not. Where the surface is uncertain, confirm with a contact probe.
