Tramex contact temperature probe

A contact probe for measuring surface temperature, used with Tramex meters and dataloggers that accept it.

Why surface temperature matters

Ambient relative humidity and air temperature give you dew point. Surface temperature tells you whether a floor, wall or slab is below that dew point – which is the difference between a surface that will accept a coating or adhesive and one that is quietly condensing. A contact reading is more reliable than an infrared reading on shiny, dark or textured surfaces, where emissivity throws infrared off.

Frequently asked questions

Contact probe or infrared thermometer?

Infrared is faster and reads from a distance, which suits scanning a large area. A contact probe is more accurate on surfaces where emissivity is uncertain. For a coating decision on a specific slab, contact is the safer reading; the IRT2 infrared thermometer is the better survey tool.

Which meters accept it?

It is supplied as part of the FTK and CCTK kits. If you are adding one to an existing meter or datalogger, contact us with the model and we will confirm compatibility rather than guess.
