Marine surveying is where the handle matters
Hull surveys mean working over your head under a boat on hardstand, and along a topside you cannot reach from the ground. The extension handle turns a two-person job into a one-person job. The check box matters because a marine survey reading feeds a purchase decision or an insurance position.

Impedance meters and RH probes are checked differently. An impedance meter is verified against a reference box or plate of known value; an RH probe is verified in a sealed salt chamber at a known humidity. One does not substitute for the other, and a meter that takes RH probes needs both.
