Overview
Press-fit hard-surface brush glide for the Sapphire 14 inch titanium wand, internal fit. Sapphire part number 67-084BRUSH, also catalogued as Legend Brands 128275.
This is the hard-surface counterpart to the PTFE carpet glide. The brush face carries the head on tile, vinyl, sealed concrete and timber, agitating the surface while the wand extracts, where a flat PTFE glide would simply skate.
What it does
- Brush wear face. Works the surface as the wand passes, instead of sliding over it.
- Press-fit, no tools. Change from the carpet glide to the brush glide by hand when you move from carpet to hard floor.
- Extracts standing water. The brush face lets the head lift water off a hard surface rather than riding on top of it.
For carpet, the same head takes the internal-fit PTFE glide. Most operators running both surfaces keep one of each on the truck.
Carpet glide or brush glide?
- Carpet, rugs, cut and loop pile — PTFE glide. A brush glide on carpet adds drag and does nothing useful.
- Tile, grout, vinyl, sealed concrete, timber — brush glide.
The two are the same fit on the same wand, so this is a choice you make per job, not per machine.
Internal fit — check yours before ordering
An internal-fit glide sits inside the metal lips of the wand head. An external-fit glide wraps around the outside of those lips. They are different parts and they are not interchangeable as supplied.
If your wand takes the external-fit glide, you need Sapphire Glide for 14 inch Titanium Wand External Fit (67-084) instead.
The difference is not always obvious from a photograph. If you have not changed a glide on this wand before, look at whether the current glide sits inside or outside the lips, or send us a photograph of the head and we will identify it.
Converting an external-fit wand
An existing external-fit Sapphire 14 inch titanium wand can be converted to take press-fit internal glides: remove the current glide, prise off the wand lips, then press the internal-fit glide into place.
This is a permanent modification to the wand head. Once the lips are removed the wand takes internal-fit glides only, so decide before you start which glide family you intend to stay with. If you are not sure, talk to us first.
Why PTFE
PTFE has a very low coefficient of friction against carpet fibre, so the wand takes less effort to draw. That matters over a full day: a wand that pulls easily gets worked at a more even speed, and even speed is what produces consistent extraction rather than alternating wet and dry passes.
Wear and replacement
A glide is a wear part. It thins with use, and the rate depends on the surface — commercial glue-down and hard surfaces wear a glide faster than cut pile in a house.
Replace it when the wear face has thinned enough to let the head sit low, when an edge has become sharp, or when it has chipped or cracked. A worn glide lets the vacuum slot lose its seal against the carpet, and recovery drops before most operators notice the glide is the cause.
A sharp or broken edge can mark delicate fibres, so check the leading edge whenever the wand is off the truck.
Frequently asked questions
Which wand does this fit?
The Sapphire 14 inch titanium wand in internal-fit form, including the current Sapphire Titanium Wand 2 inch x 14 inch 6-jet inc Internal Fit Glide. An older external-fit wand can also be converted — see above.
Is this internal or external fit?
Internal. It presses into the inside of the wand head lips. If your glide currently wraps around the outside of the lips, you need the external-fit part.
Do I need tools to change it?
No. The press-fit design is designed to be changed by hand, which is what makes swapping between a carpet glide and a hard-surface brush glide practical on site rather than something you plan a day around.
Will the 14 inch glide fit the other wand size?
No. The 12 inch and 14 inch glides are different parts. Order by the wand head size, not by the machine.
How long does a glide last?
There is no published figure, and any number we gave you would be a guess — it depends entirely on the surfaces you clean and how much weight you put through the wand. Inspect it rather than working to a schedule.
If you are not certain whether your wand is internal or external fit, send us a photograph of the head before you order and we will confirm which glide you need.
