The Razorback Heat-Mate is an inline heater that sits between a portable extractor and the cleaning tool and heats the solution on its way to the wand. It turns a cold-water portable into a heated machine, which makes carpet and upholstery cleaning more effective.
It runs on its own 10 metre lead and draws 8.1 amps, and it is rated to a maximum of 800 psi.
Features
- Draws 8.1 amps (1800 watt)

- 5 kg
- L x W x H 35 cm x 21 cm x 23 cm
- Male 1/4 inch quick connect output
- 1 metre connector hose with male 1/4 inch quick connect input
- Heavy-duty power cord
- Water-resistant switch
- Thermostat-controlled heating for safety
- Heavy-duty casing and stainless steel carry handle
Why heat matters
Most carpet chemistry works faster and more completely in hot solution. Heat lowers the surface tension of the water, speeds up the prespray and helps release oily soils that cold water leaves behind. On a portable without its own heater, an inline heater is the most direct way to get that benefit.
Pressure limit
The Heat-Mate is rated to a maximum of 800 psi. It suits the Balboa 700 and Balboa 700 Auto at their 600 psi working pressure. On the Drago 1600 and Drago 1600 Auto, which run up to 1600 psi, set the machine to 800 psi or below before connecting the Heat-Mate.
Carpet itself is cleaned at around 400 to 500 psi, so working under the Heat-Mate's limit costs nothing on carpet.
Power
The Heat-Mate draws 8.1 amps on its own 10 m lead. Plug it into a separate 10 amp circuit from the extractor, or you will trip the breaker.
Setting it up
- Connect the machine's solution outlet to the Heat-Mate input using the 1 metre connector hose (male 1/4 inch quick connect).
- Connect your solution hose to the Heat-Mate output (male 1/4 inch quick connect).
- Check the machine pressure is at or below 800 psi.
- Prime the line: run solution through the heater before switching the heater on.
- Plug the Heat-Mate into its own 10 amp circuit and switch it on.
Switch the heater off before the solution runs out, and run cold water through it at the end of the day before disconnecting.

Frequently asked questions
Can I run it on the same power point as my extractor?
No. Use a separate 10 amp circuit, or you will trip the breaker.
Will it work with a Drago 1600?
Yes, with the machine set to 800 psi or below.
Does it fit other brands of portable?
It connects with male 1/4 inch quick connects. If your machine has compatible quick connects and works at or below 800 psi, it will connect. Check with us first if you are unsure.
Why does it need water flowing before I switch it on?
A heater running without flow overheats. The thermostat is there for safety, but priming the line first is the correct habit.
