INOX MX6 is safe on rubber, and is ideally suitable for all plumbing O-rings and seals, food machinery O-rings and seals, pneumatic control valve O-rings and seals, diving gear O-rings and seals — anywhere rubber or synthetic O-rings and seals are used.
INOX MX6 is a fully synthetic extreme pressure grease formulated to give premium performance and food grade purity. This grease is composed entirely of ingredients which meet the requirements of section 178.3570 of the US FDA regulations and have been cleared for use within registered establishments by the US Department of Agriculture, and will not deleteriously affect meat, meat products or any food products.
INOX MX6 is a smooth light brown grease made from polyalphaolefins and a special bentone (organoclay) thickener. It contains additives to protect against corrosion and oxidation. INOX gives it a temperature range of −30 °C to an extremely high temperature — it has no melting point, and INOX states it will operate non-stop to 250 °C all day, with short bursts up to 300 °C, without breaking down.
Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) is a premium grade anti-friction medium which gives increased lubrication between the contact surfaces. This reduced-friction environment also lowers operating temperatures and extends life.
Where It Fits in a Cleaning Business
For carpet cleaners, MX6 is the O-ring grease. The O-rings and seals on wand valves, quick-connects, pump fittings and sprayer seals last longer and move more freely with a thin film of a rubber-safe grease, and a seal that is lubricated on assembly is far less likely to roll or tear.
- Wand valves: CCW recommends applying rubber grease to the valve-stem O-rings on the Soft Touch wand valve every 100 hours.
- Valve rebuilds: a light film on new O-rings and seals when fitting a repair kit, such as the Soft Touch Valve Repair Kit or the Kingston 251-30 repair kit.
- Quick-connects: a small amount on the O-ring keeps couplers connecting smoothly.
Use a thin film. Excess grease collects grit, and grit is what wears seals.
Why MX6?
- INOX MX6 holds the NSF class H1 food grade approval.
- INOX MX6 is a fully synthetic extreme pressure grease containing bentone, PTFE and polyalphaolefins.
- INOX MX6 will not melt and has excellent resistance to water washout.
MX6 or MX3?
| MX6 Rubber Grease | MX3 Lubricant | |
|---|---|---|
| Form | Grease (tube) | Penetrating oil (aerosol) |
| Rubber O-rings and seals | Yes — formulated to be safe on rubber | Not recommended — INOX cautions it may affect some natural rubber with long-term use |
| Best for | Seals, O-rings, bearings, slides | Hinges, latches, exposed metal, moisture displacement |
What Can I Use MX6 Food Grade Grease For?
INOX MX6 is highly suitable for all bearings, bushes, chains, hinges, sprockets, slides, splines and couplings, universals and ball joints used in all food processing machinery, beverage filling lines, food conveyor lines, food packaging equipment, ovens, freezers and cold rooms. INOX notes that in ovens it is for external parts only.
Using It
- Clean the old grease and grit off the part.
- INOX advises not to mix MX6 with greases that are not clay-based — flush the existing grease out rather than adding MX6 on top.
- Apply a thin film to the O-ring or seal before assembly.
- Reassemble and wipe off any excess.
Safety
INOX’s safety data sheet for MX6 does not classify it as hazardous and it is not dangerous goods for transport. Gloves are suggested where skin contact is likely. Store in a cool, dry place, preferably below 30 °C, with the cap on.
MX6 technical data and safety data sheet are available from CCW on request.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is it safe on Viton and nitrile O-rings?
INOX describes MX6 as safe on rubber and synthetic O-rings and seals. INOX does not publish a compatibility list by seal material.
How often should I grease a wand valve?
For the Soft Touch valve, CCW recommends the valve-stem O-rings every 100 hours. For other valves, grease the O-rings whenever the valve is rebuilt or starts to feel stiff.
Why does food grade matter to a carpet cleaner?
It does not, directly. What matters is that MX6 is rubber-safe, water-resistant and holds up at high temperature. The H1 approval is useful if you also service equipment in food premises.
Can I use it on a heated truckmount?
INOX rates MX6 to 250 °C continuous, well above truckmount solution temperatures. The limit is usually the seal material, not the grease.
